Enjoying The Music
Researcher's have long been singing the praises of music therapy and the stimulating and sedative effects of music. In clinics, nursing homes and dental offices, research has shown that music can play a role in reducing patients' agitation, enhancing sleep, relieving pain and lowering heart rates and blood pressure. Whether you need calming or excitement, summer is a good time to pursue the positive effects of music in your life.
Consider these ideas:
- Attend an outdoor concert or music festival.
- Take along your favourite music and your headphones next time you jog, garden or use public transit.
- Ask your kids if they want to sign up for music camp this summer.
- Play soothing music in your car while commuting.
- Join a choir.
- Go dancing, or take dance lessons.
- Take singing lessons or learn to play an instrument.
- Attend a noon-time concert during your work week
